The Interdisciplinary Breast Unit of The University of Düsseldorf is certified as a breast unit by the department of health of Nordrhein-Westfalia, as a EUSOMA breast unit and as breast unit of the Deutsche Krebsgesellschaft. We provide all specialized services concerning diseases of the breast, especially breast cancer, including the opportunity for a second opinion and all techniques of plastic and reconstructive surgery. As a university unit, we are dedicated to science, take part in national and international studies and implement new techniques and therapies as soon as reliable data are available. All cases of breast cancer are generally discussed in an interdisciplinary team and treatment options are based on the state of the art as well as on the individual features of the patients. The Interdisciplinary Breast unit is a member of the Consortium of hereditary breast cancer of Germany and provides counselling for patients with hereditary breast and ovarian cancer as a member in the ongoing project of the Deutsche Krebshilfe, covered by all German insurances.
