The Klinikum Südstadt Rostock is a teaching hospital of the University of Rostock serving a population of 350,000 people in the Rostock area, North East Germany. Since unification of the women's hospitals in Rostock, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Rostock University is located at the Klinikum Südstadt. The hospital comprises 450 beds, a radiotherapy department on the campus and outpatient clinics. The breast unit is part of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. All kind of breast surgery is offered and more than 300 primary breast carcinomas are diagnosed and treated per year.
