The B.U. is located in the new 'Polichirurgico' of the hospital, 1st floor. We treat at least 240 cancer patients per year. The staff is composed by: 1 full-time breast surgeon (director), 1 senior full-time breast surgeon, 1 half-time newly-formed breast surgeon, 1 dedicated psychologist, 1 dedicated case-manager. Briefings are held every Tuesday, with multi-disciplinary discussion of the more compolicated cancer cases. The unit has an agreement with the 'Scuola di Oncologia Chirurgica Ricostruttiva' of Milan National Cancer Institute, with constant shering of protocols, clinical cases and trials of clinical research. We are also in close contact with the European Institute of Oncology (Milan). All routine and more specialised diagnostic tools, with the main care options (surgery, reconstruction, oncology, radiotherapy, psychologic support and rehabilitation) are offered fully covered by the national health institute. Genetic counseling is offered to the targeted population through an agreement with the National Cancer Institute.
