The Breast Unit has been working since 1987 as a multidisciplinary unit, consisting of physicians and other specialists in breast diseases treatment, particularly breast cancer. The breast unit is part of the General Surgery Department (Head Gómez Lorenzo) of the Complexo Hospitalario, and serves as a reference centre for breast cancer treatment all over the area with a long expertise in research and teaching activities. More than 300,000 people attend the centre annually. In total 3,000 patients are treated yearly in the centre.
