The BU of the University Hospital Arnau de Vilanova of Lleida is an independent Service integrated by a multidisciplinary team compound by surgeons, plastic surgeon, gynecologists, medical oncologists, radiotherapy oncologists, nurses, clinical assistant, two secretaries and data manager, pathologists, radiologist, psychooncologist. In our Breast Unit we assist the benign breast disease, as well as all the cases of breast cancer of the health region of Lleida, and all the cases coming from the programme of breast cancer screening. In addition to all processes of diagnosis, we offer to our patients breast conservative surgery, sentinel node biopsy, immediate or differed reconstructive surgery, primary or adjuvant chemotheraphy, and other ways of systematic treatment which include the therapeutics targets and the treatment of the locally advanced and metastatic illness. The coordination of all these processes is done through two weekly multidisciplinary meetings. For the patients who require it, we also offer the Risk Assesment and Genetic Counselling. During 2009 we did 8687 visits as outpatient clinics and we have assisted 289 new cases of breast cancer.
