Southend Breast Unit is situated on the first floor of the Nightingale Centre in the grounds of Southend Hospital on Carlingford Drive. Southend Breast Unit is the designated Cancer Centre for the people of South Essex, and provides the breast screening service for Shoebury, Thorpe Bay, Southend, Westcliff, Leigh, Thundersley, Canvey, Basildon, Stanford, Corringham, Grays, Lakeside, Rochford, Hockley, Rayleigh, and Wickford. A new Women's Clinic was opened in 2003: it contains a purpose built Breast Unit.
