The Breast cancer unit structure is composed of the unit for breast screening, the outpatient department with full radiology imaging and biopsy devices (US, digital mammography, CT, MRI, scintigraphy), and the breast surgery department. The guideline of the department is that no woman after breast cancer surgery would leave the hospital without the breast if she wishes so. 70 to 80% of our patients with breast cancer undergo oncoplastic surgery with immediate plastics or reconstruction of the breast. Sentinel lymph-node biopsy is the routine procedure; the only contraindication is inflammatory breast cancer and N1, proven by US and biopsy. All cases are discussed in collaborating multidisciplinary meetings.
